Interest Groups
Interest Groups are designed for UWC members to promote friendship and social outings as well as enjoyment of hobbies and other interests.
Groups function independently with the leadership of group chairs on a designated schedule to avoid conflicts with other Interest Groups or UWC meetings and events.
To participate in an Interest Group, contact the chairperson to see if groups are meeting and if they are open for new members. Some groups have size limits. Only dues-paying members of UWC are eligible to participate in the Interest Groups.
Timely information and announcements from each Interest Group are published monthly in the UWC Newsletter.
AFTERNOON BRIDGE
Meets third Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
Members review books published within the last five years, with some exceptions. Reviews are by an individual member or group discussion.
AFTERNOON CARDS
Meets fourth Monday at 1:30 pm
Members meet at the Bogart Library in Bogart. Each month, two members volunteer to bring light refreshments.
ANTIQUES & HISTORIC PLACES
Dates & times to be announced
Members participate in organized day trips to sites in the surrounding area. The dates and times determined by the schedule of the site to be visited.
BOOK REVIEW
Meets third Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
Members review books published within the last five years, with some exceptions. Reviews are by an individual member or group discussion.
BRUNCH BUNCH
Meets first Friday at 10:00 a.m.
Members meet socially at Athens area restaurants. Gather with us for brunch and fellowship with friends.
GOLF
Meets Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
Members meet at the UGA Golf Course. This group is for beginners or those who need a refresher. Golf clubs and balls are provided. Instructor cost is $25 per lesson.
GIRL'S NIGHT OUT
Meets third Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Members meet socially at Athens area restaurants. Gather with us for fun, fellowship, food, and beverages.
GOURMET LUNCHEON 1
Meets first Monday at 11:30 a.m.
Members rotate hosting/co-hosting the event and preparing the meal. Recipes are shared and food preparation techniques are demonstrated and/or discussed.
HANDCRAFTERS
Meets first Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
Members bring current projects of sewing, yarn, fabric and crafts for sharing, advice and/or discussion of techniques of the craft including the resources for supplies needed.
LUNCHEON DINING
Meets third Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
Members meet at different restaurants each month. See newsletter for additional information.
TRAVEL
Date & time to be announced
Members plan and participate in overnight excursions of two or more days using different modes of transportation to experience the sights of famous tourist attractions.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
Meets second Monday at noon.
Members will meet to get to know each other & other UWC members. Programs will include the history of UWC, interest groups for members, and other UWC opportunities.
